Frequently Asked Questions
01What does a mobile app design project include?
A typical project covers working out what the app needs to do, how it is organised, user flows, wireframes, a clickable prototype, final design for every screen, a reusable component library and a handover to developers. User research and testing are added where they will change a decision. The scope is agreed up front based on where you are starting from.
02How much does app design cost?
It depends on how many types of users the app serves, how settled your requirements are, whether research and user testing are included, whether Android and iOS need separate treatment, and whether a design system is built from scratch. Estimates are itemised by stage, so you can start with the first stages and decide on the rest once you have seen the output.
03How long does app design take?
Dates are committed against the agreed stage plan once the scope is settled. The pace usually depends on how quickly your consolidated feedback comes back, so review slots are built into the plan.
04Do we own the prototype and the design files?
Yes. The prototype, the editable Figma files, the component library and every exported asset are yours on completion, and you can take them to any development team. You never have to start the design again if you build elsewhere.
05How many revisions are included?
Each stage — flows, wireframes and final design — has a review round and a follow-up round after your feedback, and is signed off before the next begins. Extra rounds within the agreed scope can be added where needed. New requirements are scoped and estimated separately, so the timeline stays honest.
06Do you test the design with real users?
Yes, at the prototype stage, where it pays off most. People from your target audience try real tasks while we watch, which reliably shows up confusion your team can no longer see. Each round gives a prioritised list of changes, and we will tell you when an app is simple enough not to need it.
07Can you redesign our existing app?
Yes. We start from evidence — where users drop out, app store reviews, support tickets and a walkthrough of the current app. Often the problem is too many steps or unclear navigation rather than looks. You get a prioritised plan: what to fix first, what can be improved gradually, and what needs rebuilding.
08Can you also build the app after the design?
Yes, and that is the usual route. The designer stays involved and checks the built screens against the designs. If you have your own developers, the handover files and walkthrough are made for exactly that. Design and development are estimated separately, so you never have to commit to a build to get the design done.
Designing a New App — or Fixing One?
Tell us who it is for and what it has to do. You get a proposed design approach, the deliverables at each stage and an itemised estimate.
