Travel Website Design Company in Delhi: What a Travel Site Needs

A good travel website starts with one decision: enquiry-led or booking-led. Enquiry-led sites sell custom trips through forms and WhatsApp; booking-led sites need live availability, exact pricing and online payment. Either way you need clear itinerary pages, fast image galleries, honest reviews and truthful pricing. Mindrops designs and builds websites from its head office in New Delhi.

Key takeaways

  • Itinerary pages should state what the price is based on, what is included and the cancellation terms before anyone pays.
  • Messages such as 'only 2 left' should come from real inventory. India's dark-pattern guidelines list false urgency and drip pricing among 13 specified practices.
  • Reviews you control about your own business are not eligible for Google's star review feature on LocalBusiness or Organization pages.
  • Ask whether your own team can change a price, a departure date or a package without calling the developer.
On this page

A travel website design company is hired to do two things at once: make people want to go, and make it easy for them to commit. The first is photography, writing and layout. The second is structure: how an itinerary is laid out, how a price is explained, how an enquiry or booking is taken and how a nervous traveller is reassured. This guide is for tour operators, travel agencies, trekking organisers, boutique hotels and destination-wedding planners who are deciding what to ask for.

Start with the business model: enquiry, booking or both

This choice changes the data, the pages and the cost more than any design decision, so settle it first.

Model How a visitor commits What the site must do Back end it needs
Enquiry-led Sends a trip request by form, call or WhatsApp; you send a quote Collect dates, travellers and budget; route the request to a named person Lead inbox or CRM, quote templates
Booking-led Picks a date and options, then pays online Show live availability and the exact price, take payment, send confirmation Inventory and calendar, pricing rules, payment gateway, booking emails, refund handling
Hybrid Books fixed departures online; enquires about custom trips Run both flows, clearly separated Both of the above, plus rules for deposits and balance payments

In our view, most small operators do best starting enquiry-led or hybrid. A person usually prices a custom trip, so live booking would add cost without adding sales. Booking-led makes sense when you sell fixed departures or rooms with clear inventory.

Structure the site around how people plan a trip

People move from "where?" to "when and how long?" to "what exactly is included and what does it cost?". Build pages for each step.

  • Destination pages that answer the first questions quickly: when to go, typical trip length, how to get there and the kinds of trip you offer.
  • Itinerary or package pages with a day-by-day plan, inclusions and exclusions, departure dates, what the price is based on (per person, sharing basis, season) and the cancellation terms.
  • Search and filters by destination, duration, budget, month and trip style, so visitors can narrow a long list.
  • Photo and video galleries. For a travel business, images are the product. Use your own, from real trips, with captions.
  • Maps and practical details, each dated so visitors can see how current they are.
  • Several ways to reach you: a short form, a phone number and WhatsApp, on every package page.

Photos, video and speed

Image-heavy pages are the usual reason travel sites are slow. Google's published targets for Core Web Vitals say Largest Contentful Paint should happen within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint should be 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads across mobile and desktop. Treat those as acceptance criteria for the build.

Practical consequences, which are our recommendations rather than rules: serve each image at the size the screen needs, load the top image straight away and the ones further down lazily, reserve space for images so the page does not jump while loading, and avoid auto-playing large video on mobile. Ask the developer to test key pages on a mid-range phone, not only on a fast laptop.

Reviews and proof, without inventing any

Trust decides whether a visitor books. Show real traveller reviews with the trip and the date, and name where they were first posted. Do not write them yourself and do not remove the critical ones selectively.

Two published points are worth knowing. The Bureau of Indian Standards notified a voluntary framework for online consumer reviews, covering their collection, moderation and publication, in November 2022, and the Press Information Bureau says it applies to every online platform that publishes consumer reviews, on principles including integrity, accuracy and transparency. Separately, as of October 2026, Google's review snippet guidelines say that if the entity being reviewed controls the reviews about itself, its pages that use LocalBusiness or other Organization structured data are not eligible for the star review feature. So do not build a search strategy on stars from your own testimonials.

Also show who you are: registered business name, address, phone and any government or industry recognition you actually hold, with its number.

Booking-flow rules in India

This section reflects official sources as of October 2026 and is not legal advice.

Honest pricing and urgency. The Central Consumer Protection Authority issued Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023 on 30 November 2023, listing 13 specified dark patterns. The Press Information Bureau describes them as design that deceives, coerces or influences consumers against their interests, names drip pricing, disguised advertisement, bait and switch and false urgency among them, and says such practices are unfair trade practices under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Our reading for a travel site: "only 2 rooms left" or "12 people are viewing this" messages must reflect real inventory and real viewers; show the full price, including taxes and mandatory fees, before the traveller commits to pay; and do not add insurance or extras the customer did not choose.

Payments and complaints. A site that takes bookings online is likely to be an e-commerce entity, defined by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 as any person who owns, operates or manages a digital platform for electronic commerce. Card-data and grievance-officer rules for such stores are set out in our guide to choosing an eCommerce development company, and they are likely to apply to a booking flow in the same way.

Traveller data. Bookings collect names and contact details, often ID or passport numbers, and the details of children. The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 were published on 13 November 2025, and most business obligations take effect 18 months later, in May 2027. The Government's explainer lists data minimisation among the Act's core principles and says a child's personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or guardian, unless the processing relates to essential services such as healthcare, education or real-time safety. Practical steps: ask for ID details only at the stage a booking needs them, limit who in your team can see them, and ask your adviser how the children's-data rule applies to family bookings.

Handling enquiries: forms, WhatsApp and follow-up

The first reply often decides whether a traveller goes ahead, so design the enquiry path as carefully as the homepage.

  • Keep the form short but capture what you need to quote: travel dates or a flexible window, number of adults and children, budget and departure city.
  • Offer WhatsApp alongside the form and phone number, so people can use the channel they prefer.
  • Send an automatic acknowledgement that states when a person will reply, and route each enquiry to a named person. Do not promise an instant reply if nobody is on shift.
  • Record every enquiry in a CRM with the page it came from, so you can see which packages bring serious leads. Our CRM development work covers this side.

SEO for a travel website

Google's guidance on people-first content asks whether content provides original information and demonstrates first-hand expertise. For a travel business, that is an advantage: write itineraries from trips you have actually run, with the practical detail only someone who went would know, and use your own photographs. Copied supplier descriptions give a search engine, and a reader, no reason to choose you. Give each destination and each package its own page with a unique title, link them to each other, and redirect old URLs if you are relaunching an existing site. Our SEO services team can plan this alongside the build.

What drives cost and timeline

  • The model: enquiry-led, booking-led or hybrid.
  • Number of destinations and packages, and who writes content and provides photography.
  • Supplier integrations, such as hotel channel managers or other availability sources, and the terms they require.
  • Payment complexity: deposits, instalments, balance reminders and several currencies.
  • Languages and currencies shown to visitors.
  • Custom design versus a configured template.
  • Admin tools so your team can manage packages, departures and prices.
  • Performance and accessibility work.

How to choose a travel website design company

  • Ask which model they have built, and see a booking or enquiry flow, not only a homepage.
  • Test their live sites on your phone: speed, filters and the enquiry form.
  • Ask about the admin. Can your own team change a price, a departure date or a package without the developer?
  • Ask who structures and edits the itineraries, and what you must supply.
  • Check how they handle payments, truthful pricing and traveller data, in terms of the rules above.
  • Confirm ownership of code, domain, hosting and payment accounts.
  • Agree support after launch: response times, fixes and updates.

How Mindrops works on this

Mindrops designs and engineers websites and web applications, from corporate sites and CMS platforms to portals with roles, dashboards and APIs, with search optimisation built in. Design is handled by our UI/UX design team and the build by our website development team, and the client owns the source code, documentation and infrastructure. We do not currently publish a travel case study, so judge us the way you would any agency: by a scoped proposal and by examples relevant to your build. Our head office is in Netaji Subhash Place, New Delhi. To discuss a project, get a quote and tell us whether you need enquiries, bookings or both; we respond as quickly as possible.

Conclusion

A travel website works when its structure matches how people plan a trip: a clear model, itineraries that explain what you get and what it costs, fast galleries, honest reviews and a simple way to ask a question. Decide the model first, hold the pricing and data practices to the rules above, and choose a design company by how it handles those, not by how its homepage looks.

Frequently asked questions

Can we start with enquiries only and add online booking later?
Yes. Structure packages, departure dates and prices as proper data from the start, not as free text on a page, so a booking and payment step can be added later without rebuilding the site. Add online booking when you can confirm availability reliably.
How do we connect hotel or airline availability?
Supplier availability is a separate workstream. Ask each supplier whether it offers an API or works through a channel manager, and what the terms are. Many small operators do not have live supply and instead show a request-availability form, confirming each booking by hand.
Who writes the destination and itinerary content?
Your team knows the trips, so the best content starts with you: day-by-day detail, practical tips and your own photographs. A design company can structure, edit and optimise it. Budget time for content and photography, because gathering them often takes longer than the build.
Do we need a mobile app as well as a website?
Not at the start. A fast, responsive website covers most visitors who are planning a trip. An app may be worth considering later if repeat travellers need their itinerary or tickets available offline.
