What a custom commerce build covers

Custom e-commerce development is building a commerce platform around your own business rules: custom or headless storefronts, B2B ordering portals, multi-vendor marketplaces and replatformed stores. Mindrops builds on Node.js, Laravel or Django with a React frontend, integrates ERP, CRM, payments and logistics, and hands over the source code.

Custom & headless platforms

Commerce backends on Node.js, Laravel or Django with a React or Next.js frontend, for complex pricing, unusual fulfilment and design freedom a templated theme can’t give.

B2B ordering portals

Account-specific prices and catalogues, SKU-list and CSV bulk ordering, quick reorder, dealer logins, approval workflows and credit limits checked at checkout.

Multi-vendor marketplaces

Seller onboarding and verification, per-seller catalogues and dashboards, commission structures, payouts, order splitting across sellers and moderation tools.

Replatforming & migration

Products, variants, customers and order history moved and verified, URL redirects mapped to protect rankings, and the old store trading until sign-off.

ERP, CRM & logistics integration

SAP, Tally, Salesforce, HubSpot and courier platforms connected through APIs, connectors or structured import and export, with data flows agreed in discovery.

Payments & pricing logic

Razorpay, UPI, cash on delivery, Stripe and PayPal with refunds, webhooks and reconciliation built in, plus multi-state GST, freight slabs and minimum-order rules.

Who we build custom commerce for

Custom commerce earns its cost when the platform itself has become the constraint. These are the situations it is built for.

Wholesalers, distributors & manufacturers

Businesses selling on contract pricing, credit terms and multi-user accounts that a retail store can’t express, so staff enforce the rules by email and phone.

Marketplace operators

Operators running a multi-seller model that needs seller onboarding, commissions, payouts and order splitting under the operator’s control.

Retailers outgrowing their platform

Stores where every new requirement becomes a workaround, performance has slipped or the original developers have moved on, and replatforming is on the table.

Operations teams re-keying orders

Teams copying orders, stock and invoices by hand between the store, the ERP and courier panels, with overselling and nightly reconciliation as the result.

Why Mindrops for custom commerce

Cost comparison with packaged platforms
We also build on Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento, so a custom platform is recommended only when your rules, model or integrations genuinely need one — with a cost comparison against the packaged route.
ERP and CRM integration
The same practice builds ERP and CRM software, so orders, stock, prices and invoices move between platform and back office as designed data flows.
Open stack and source code handover
The platform runs on Node.js, Laravel or Django and React, with source code and documentation handed over, so your team or any other can extend it without licence lock-in.
Load testing before sale periods
Caching, query optimisation, CDN delivery and cloud infrastructure that scales with demand are designed in, and load behaviour is tested before sale periods.

How we deliver custom commerce platforms

  1. 01 — Discovery

    Rules, data flows & architecture

Pricing, fulfilment and approval rules are documented, integration flows agreed — what moves, in which direction, how often — and the data model designed.

  2. 02 — Phased build

    Working functionality every phase

The platform ships in phases, each ending in a demonstrable increment, with priorities adjustable between phases as the business learns.

  3. 03 — Integrate & migrate

    Integration & data migration

ERP, payments and logistics are connected and tested with real data flows, and catalogue, customer and order data are migrated and verified against the source.

  4. 04 — Launch & run

    Parallel run, then maintenance

The existing store keeps trading until the new platform is verified; after launch, maintenance and enhancements run under an agreed response time.

Frequently asked questions

When does custom e-commerce make more sense than Shopify or WooCommerce?
Custom makes sense when pricing, fulfilment or integration rules can only be faked on a packaged platform with workarounds — B2B contract pricing, marketplace models, unusual fulfilment flows or deep back-office integration. If a packaged platform fits, Mindrops says so and recommends it.
What is headless commerce, and is it worth the complexity?
Headless commerce separates the storefront from the commerce backend through APIs, so a custom React frontend can deliver design freedom, speed and several channels from one backend. It is worth it when those gains matter more than the convenience of a templated theme; Mindrops advises case by case.
Can Mindrops build a B2B ordering portal?
Yes. B2B portals cover account-specific pricing and catalogues, bulk and quick reordering, approval workflows, credit limits and dealer or distributor logins, with ERP integration so orders, stock and invoices stay consistent with the back office.
Can Mindrops build a multi-vendor marketplace?
Yes. Marketplace builds cover seller onboarding and verification, per-seller catalogues and dashboards, commission structures, payout handling, order splitting across sellers and moderation tools, so the operator keeps control while sellers run their own listings.
How is an existing store replatformed without losing sales or rankings?
The existing store keeps trading until the new platform is verified. Products, variants, customers and order history are migrated and checked against the source, and URL redirects are mapped page by page so accumulated search rankings carry over.
Which ERP, CRM and payment systems can be integrated?
Mindrops integrates ERP, CRM and accounting platforms including SAP, Tally, Salesforce and HubSpot, and payment gateways such as Razorpay, UPI, Stripe and PayPal, through APIs, connectors or structured import and export. See API integration.
